The aesthetics of "Dead Man's Tale" really fascinate me. Through a constant rhythm accompanied by strings and group interjections (yeah! yeah yeah!) a typical cartoon aesthetic is created. In fact, this eerie blues track is so fun and sounds so out of a saturday morning cartoon that it reminds me of the enjoyable blast it is to hang out with a famous crew of pirates in cartoons. "Dead Man's Tale" seems to me to be as much or more fun than Modest Mouse's sinking ship. Both indie pop at its best.
