1. Cru cru APTØSRS, what first got you into music?
Theme songs from 1980s TV shows I watched as a kid were initially much more impactful than the radio. I was obsessed with music from Knight Rider, The Muppet Show, The A-Team, Airwolf, and The Amazing Spider-Man (the Nicholas Hammond live-action show that aired in the UK in the early '80s). Then a BBC TV music show called Top of the Pops became a weekly must-watch.
2. What is "Elders" and why is it so cinematic?
It's the name of my debut album from my new instrumental music project called Aptøsrs (pronounced like the “apatosaurus” dinosaur, which is the logo). It's cinematic because of my love of film music. I wanted this project to be about crafting instrumental, post-rock songs via the soundscapes and atmospheres associated with epic film scores.
3. What’s your favorite music act from the post rock genre?
Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
4. Will you tell us your top 3 instrumental albums of all time?
That changes quite frequently, depending on the mood I'm in. So, today, I'd say it's probably:
Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven by Godspeed You! Black Emperor, From The Gallery of Sleep by Night Verses, and Les Revenants by Mogwai.
5. What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?
As I bounce between writing music and writing books, it would probably be more books. But because I've always enjoyed doing more than one thing, somewhere in a parallel universe I'm probably a visual artist or painter of some kind, while helping out at a sea otter marine mammal rescue facility.
6. When did you fall in love with dinosaurs?
When I was really young, around 4 or 5 years old I think. I drew dinosaurs all the time. And I could correctly spell dinosaur names better than I could spell useful words.
7. What are your long term goals in the music business?
My goal hasn't changed since the start: just make musical art for interesting projects that I feel an emotional connection to. Everything else that occurs is secondary.
8. How does your creative process work?
I've honestly no idea. I just try to remain open to new ideas when they come, and especially like challenging myself to venture into territories I've not dabbled in before.
9. What's your favorite movie soundtrack of all time?
The Fountain by Clint Mansell.
10. Do you agree with the Pigeon?
If the Pigeon enjoys the legendary an
imated TV show called Pigeon Street, then I'm sure I would get on pretty well with the Pigeon.

"Elders"opens with "Rust Mountain", where we enter an artificial reign with a background of synthesizers that create a mysterious atmosphere. Then percussion appears, sometimes intense, sometimes more organic. As if this piece wasn't audacious enough, piano keys appear, allowing this opener to take on dreamy properties. These progressions and increasingly intense percussion make "Rust Mountain" an increasingly epic song! In short, the artsy synth waves of "Rust Mountain" turn it into a piece of cinema and promise an extraordinarily promising album.
