1. Cru Cru SJ DENNEY, super nice to have the chance to chat with you!
The feeling is mutual. It’s always lovely to speak to people about my music.
2. What first got you into music?
From an early age, I was a choir boy and I also learnt to play the clarinet. That was my intro into the world of music. When I was a bit older, I stumbled across vinyl copies of The Beatles’ ‘White Album’ and ‘Harvest’ by Neil Young. They changed my life and remain two of my favourite albums. Shortly after, I got an acoustic guitar and begun learning and writing songs.
3. Can you tell us a cringe memory of yours?
Probably when I was in a band… We had built up a lot of momentum and had good crowds attending our London gigs. During our first performance at the Camden Barfly, my bandmate realised that he had lost his capo, which we needed for the next couple of songs. He then went off stage and was looking through his coat and bags, in the cloakroom to the right of where we were performing. Whilst all this was going on, I did a solo number and had to tell some jokes. Half of the audience were laughing, whilst the other half thought it was staged.
4. What’s your favorite color?
Indigo
5. Will you tell us something embarassing about you?
As a child, I used to love car journeys. One thing led to another, and my hobby became drawing aerial views of the United Kingdom. I’d sit with a map and draw out all the roads, as if I was viewing them from a helicopter.
I think it’s safe to say that music saved me from a very sad existence.
6. What’s the best decade for music?
Such a tough choice. I narrowed it down to the 60s for originality, 70s for the number of great artists, and the 90s for genre diversity. I’m going to say the 60s!
7. Who’s your favorite 00’s artist?
The Arctic Monkeys. They started on fine form and have never been afraid to evolve.
8. What’s the best advice for livin' life?
Learn the ability to laugh about anything; no matter how sad a situation may be. If you can no longer laugh, the world becomes a pretty dark place.
9. How is your musosoup experience going?
Really well thanks. We obviously got to meet there. I just find it’s amongst the best platforms to get coverage.
10. Who is the goat?
For music… Sir Paul McCartney. For football… Lionel Messi.
11. Do You agree with the Pigeon?
Opinions are often subjective. The ones built on facts are right. And the Pigeon is usually right!
