Sonomancer - Before The Dawn
(•)> A little bird told me that your music journey started with Playstation. What games are you still playing today?
A whole bunch, but the ones on regular rotation at the moment are No Man's Sky and a whole bunch of fighting games -Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat 1, and Tekken 8.
(•)> What's your favorite release from Boards of Canada?
Oh that's tricky as there are so many to choose from... if I had to choose one it would have to be Aquarius.
(•)> What do you love the most about "Since I Left You"?
The clever use of samples. There's a lot used but they all fit so well. I haven't actually listened to the album all the way through... I should really check it out all the way through. Frontier Psychiatrist is just crazy with how many samples are used.
(•)> What's the Orbital's magnum opus?
Halcyon. That's definitely my personal pick.
(•)> Will you share something embarassing about you?
Yeah... nah! Haha!
(•)> How did you built your secret lab in the sky? It was Bob, the builder who gave you a hand, wasn't it?
I wish! It's my way of referring to my studio space.
(•)> How is your giant playlist going? What was the latest record you've heard?
It's going well. I like being surprised with what's in there so I always leave it on shuffle. The latest track I added is Uprising by Flesh Field. It's not actually new, but I heard it for the first time over the end credits of a pretty cool movie I watched the other night - The Mill. Perfectly fits the sci-fi horror aspect - both the song and the movie are really dark! All I'll say is that the film is an INTERESTING way to look at the work/life balance, and certainly makes you think about your own life by the time the credits start rolling. That and really good use of sound design...
(•)> Besides, Fight Club what other film directed by the always meticulous David Fincher are you recommending?
I'd have to go with Seven.
Thanks very much!
