1. Cru Cru Rye Catchers, super nice to have the chance to chat with you AGAIN! We already know what got you into music, so... what's your favorite ice cream flavor?
This is actually a pretty tough question! I am a fan of Rocky Road – you get your chocolate, your nuts and marshmallow bits all in one – not sure you can do better than that! I also usually go with vanilla – but I feel boring nominating that one…
2. Can you tell us a cringe memory of yours?
I tend to empathize a lot so my cringe memories are almost always feeling bad for someone other than myself – usually those are awkward studio performances or watching an artist totally blow a live performance. I am a control freak which is why I don’t really do live acts – that is my way of avoiding those cringe moments.
3. What’s your favorite color?
Blue – I think I nailed that question.
4 Will you tell us something embarrassing about you?
I could go on pages and pages… I’m a nerd who enjoys my own home more than going out. I graduated many years ago from UW-Madison, which is a well known party town for college – I lived right on the main drag – State Street – and in the four years I attended, I think I made it out to the bars a total of five times. Also, I drink wine when watching football.
5. What’s the best decade for music?
So much debate around this – I am a guy who grew up in the ‘80s, and one reason I point to that era as being great owes to the diversity of music in those years – the stage was shared with all manner of genres – from hair metal to new age to synth pop to everything in between. HOWEVER, if you ask me when most of the long-lasting greats were written and recorded, I am going with the ‘40s, as that is the era of legends like Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong. They remain the giants.
6. What’s your favorite movie? And director?
I have a top ten list and I place them all in pole position – but to keep the list tidy, I will name the first five that come to mind (I like the more zany offerings and these are films I can watch over and over):
- Bull Durham
- Lair of the White Worm
- Big Trouble in Little China
- Ed Wood
- The ‘Burbs
I also say director John Carpenter is one of my faves as he made so many great horror / action films that defined their genres and are still enjoyable today – his Big Trouble, though very campy, is now a cult classic that makes my top list.
7.What’s the best advice for livin' life?
Learn how to say no. By that I mean, do what makes you happy, try and put yourself and your own sensibilities first as a priority, and do not worry about always trying to please others – we all have necessary obligations but you also have to be your own advocate in life.
8. How is your musosoup experience going?
I love this platform – it’s such a great outlet to be introduced to curators and bloggers who are so supportive and who represent a lot of other great artists.
9. Who is the goat?
I think they should change that acronym to Pigeon!
10. Do You agree with the Pigeon?
I always agree with the Pigeon – I hear he enjoys the ‘Jazz Samba’ album as much as I do! That’s solid.
The Pigeon added the new single to his Weekly Gems playlist on Spotify.
